A significant running accomplishment

November 5, 2017 --

The annual Poland Springs 5-mile run was held in New York's Central Park, October 29. In the fact of inclement weather, the run, traditionally held one week before the New York Marathon, drew 4,155 runners -- 2,103 men and 2,052 women. Included in the runners were eight men in the 75 - 79 age bracket. Thomas Maile, of Cortland Manor, New York, led the runners in this age group with a time of 40 minutes and 30 seconds (a pace of 8:06 a mile.)

LPR believes that this accomplishment for a 75-year old runner is worth noting. (For more information on the Poland Springs 5 miler, and for information about the New York Road Runners Club generally, please go to www.nyrr.org.)
